Act of Kindness Week in EYFS
This week at Samakee is our Act of Kindness Week. The teachers and children in EYFS are planning many activities to help develop our children’s awareness of others needs.
Throughout the week we will be baking, writing thank you cards, making party hats and friendship necklaces and more. We will write invitation cards and on Thursday we will set up a party for Samakee office staff and Domestic staff. The children will do all the work, decorating the party, set up the tables, pour drinks, serve foods, give cards, party hats, and other crafts as gifts. A group of us will also deliver baked goods and thank you notes to the school guards. We will talk about the importance of remembering to say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ when people help us.
‘The Smartest Giant in Town’ will be our story of the week. The teachers and children will be thinking and talking about the kindness of George, the giant as he gave away his possessions to help others in need. We will talk about friends and families who have been kind to us, sharing experiences and recalling past events.
At home, you can help your child by talking about things they can do to help others or to give thanks to people who help them. Together think of special things you could do to brighten someone’s’ day or to say thank you. For example, bake a cake for the guards at home, write a postcard to grandparents, invite someone new over for a play-date, remember to say good morning to everyone in the mornings, and more.
We would love to hear about all the acts of kindness our children get up to at home. Please send us postcards on Orbit so that your child can talk about the experience and share the photo with everyone in the class.
We are looking forward to a week full of kindness and happiness and something we hope to continue to help instill in all our children at Samakee.
Thank you for all your support and we look forward to all your amazing postcards on Orbit!
