Baking Hala Bread

Recently we were lucky enough to have Mor’s mum come in to school and bake the Jewish bread Hala with us. Hala is a special kind of bread made to eat on Shabat celebration days, the Jewish day of rest and spiritual enrichment.

In our “children’s kitchen”, the Year 1 children learnt all about the ingredients that go into making bread and even learnt what the ingredient yeast was and what it does. The children then kneaded and created their own breads which were baked and enjoyed as a delicious Friday afternoon snack.

It is always really fun to learn about different cultures and the fun things they do. Many thanks to Mor’s mummy, Rachel for baking bread with us at school.
