First School Sports Day 2017
A lovely cool breeze greeted us on Wednesday morning for First School Sports Day 2017, but a fresh spirit certainly could not be said of the atmosphere around the Samakee gardens. All ten classes in First School were outside and eager to begin. Lots of enthusiasm and lots of cheer! Early Years, Year 1 and Year 2 classes worked around an activity circuit, demonstrating their running, jumping, rolling and throwing skills. There were five different areas to visit, each one giving the children an opportunity to show their agility, balance, coordination and most importantly teamwork. Children travelled over, under, through and along on the Adventure Obstacle course making for an extremely exuberant and exciting morning!
Not to disappoint – parents and teachers came together at the end for the entertainment that was the Parent/Teacher race! The children watched in awe as their mum’s, dad’s and teachers balanced two softballs, one under the chin, and the other on a racket, and raced down the garden. Well done to all who took part and thank you to all parents, teachers and Year 9 for helping to make the event a success.
