Headteacher Message 15/11/15

The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf is a staple of many a bedtime story, and on Friday this childhood fairy tale was brought to life by our two reception classes at an assembly. The reception children were delighted to perform this simple musical to an audience of their parents, teachers and students. They threw themselves into their roles with enthusiasm and pleasure, and we are so proud of our young performers.

Congratulations to the Samakee Basketball Team and members of the Basketball Club. On Friday afternoon, students from Year 6, Year 7 and Year 8, played a return game vs. GES to a crowd of enthusiastic supporters. The children worked so well as a team at this Home Game and gave it 100%; we are very proud of them.

Oliver Production November 27th 2015:

The cast, production team, stage crew and everyone involved with the Oliver Musical, have put in many hours of work this OLIVER!Poster (1)term. As we move ever closer to the big day, our enthusiastic performers will be putting the final touches on their performances as they bring rehearsals to the big stage, set up in the hall. Samakee children will have the opportunity to attend the Dress Rehearsal or part of, with their teachers on Thursday 26th November.

Based on Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist, this musical centers around Oliver who enrages orphanage staff by asking for a second bowl of gruel. The songs are glorious and sung exceptionally well by our young performers, but parents need to know that the evening show is suitable for children aged 8 years + only.

Hopefully all Key Stage 3 parents will be in the audience on Friday evening and maybe even interested parents from Key Stage 2 can be encouraged to join us. The performance will be in two acts, starting at 7 pm. and ending at approximately 9 pm. During the interval, light refreshments will be available in the shared area on the second floor. Parents are requested to order their tickets via Google Forms. Please note that priority will be given to KS3 parents followed by KS2 parents.

Parents planning to attend the performance need to be aware that our license to perform “Oliver!” on November 27th is subject to the following terms and conditions.

It is forbidden to make or allow to be made any recording of the show or any part of the show on audio or videotape or by any other recording medium for any reason whatsoever, and staff and parents should be advised accordingly. – Extract from Oliver Promotions Ltd. License

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
