We promise: Independent, confident, lifelong learners

Headteacher Message 18/4/16

I hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable Songkran Holiday, and we look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday 18th April!

St Andrew's Samakee poster for April 2016On Wednesday this week we welcome the author Gail Clarke, Gail will be in school to talk with the children about her books and tell stories to children in Years 1-6. Gail has written and published five children’s books about animals and migration and loves to present them to children in schools around the world. Gail will bring a selection of her books to sell, and if you think your child would like to buy one or more of her books, book order forms are available in the school office on request.

We would like to invite interested parents to join us for a Parent Workshop entitled:

Do you know what your children are watching on the Internet?

The workshop will take place on Tuesday 26th April at 1:30 pm. in the Samakee Hall and we encourage you to attend. Parents play a critical role in ‘parenting in the Internet age’, we invite you to join us to learn strategies to monitor your child’s Internet habits and keep them safe online. We would like as many Samakee families as possible to join this event so please share this information with others and encourage them to attend. Thank you.

The aims of the session will be to:

  • Reflect on the potential risks of Internet use for children
  • Discuss the importance of communicating with children about the time they are spending online
  • Understand how to set up parental controls on home and mobile devices so that limits can be set
  • Know what to do if your child encounters problems online.
