On Monday, we welcomed Rosalina Alexander, co-founder and President of The Rainbow Room Foundation, who came to KS2 assembly to talk to the children about the work they do and showed them a video about Down Syndrome. The Shakespeare House Captain presented a cheque for 27,000 to Rosalina Alexander, and we were all impressed by the children’s interest and response to questions her about Down Syndrome.
Last week, the children celebrated Earth Day by cooking and eating the crops they had grown and taking part in a lively Earth Week Quiz organised and presented by Year 2 Fire. Assembly was followed by an Earth Week Pledge and we all had fun stamping our handprints onto a large sturdy cloth. When finished, this material will be used to cover our new tipi tent.
International Day Tuesday 5th April
Our country volunteers are working hard to get ready for International Day on Tuesday, are you ready for this exciting event? The morning will start at 8:30 am. with the Parade of Nations in the school garden followed by a short performance from Egypt and The Glee Club. For the parade, children are encouraged to come to school in the native dress of any nation of their choice with a sign indicating the country in whose costume they are dressed. They are also encouraged to bring a travel bag, water bottle and change of clothes.
There will be 13 country visits during the morning, so the children have a busy and exciting journey ahead. Activities will include music, dance, arts and crafts, cooking and much more.
Please note that no clubs are scheduled for Tuesday and Friday this week and on both days the school day ends at 1 pm. Thank you for all your support and wishing, everyone, a fabulous International Day!
