Tracking and assessment of learning is detailed and thorough at Samakee. We use two online applications to track and monitor progress and to ensure that the needs of all children are met.
At Samakee, rigorous procedures are in place to track children’s attainment and progress. In First and Middle School, the school uses Tapestry daily to collect data, and track progression and this data along with results from standardised tests are collated and discussed with all teachers and the Senior Leadership Team four times per year to ensure that we all understand the needs of every child. Currently, Tapestry covers the Early Years Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2 cohorts; text, images and videos are uploaded by teachers to create a complete story of your child’s development and learning at school.
Tapestry allows parents to add observations and photographs as well as share comments. We love to hear about learning and WOW moments from home to share with children in school.

Children have access to a very well-stocked school library at Samakee. Our library is open throughout the school day and has a significant impact on our children’s eagerness to read. The children use the library in an interactive way when they log onto our system and the online catalogue, Junior Librarian. Children are given their own unique PIN to access the school library at home and at school. This technology makes it much easier and in fact ‘inspiring’ for even very young children to check books in and out of our library by themselves and to see for themselves what they would like to read next. We believe in working in partnership with parents and carers so that everyone is aware of the power of books and the importance of reading aloud to children is encouraged enthusiastically. Our motto is, Read Aloud – Five a Day!
