Thailand’s Number 1 Wheelchair Fencer
It is not every day that you get to meet a Paralympian Fencer, and it was delightful once again to welcome Pipat “Tom” Thongjapo to Year 6’s assembly on Friday. Tom, Thailand’s #1 wheelchair fencer, became a wheelchair user after a motorbike accident at the age of 16 left him paralysed from the waist down. He started fencing about ten years ago and he is now Thailand’s top wheelchair fencer for Category B, ranking at #25 worldwide. Tom’s aim is to go to the Brazil Paralympics (Rio 2016) and represent his country.
Thank you to everyone who attended the Year 6 assembly, and special thanks to those of you who generously made donations for Tom. We will post an update when Tom has counted the money, and we do hope that this small contribution will assist Tom as he works towards his goal, the Brazil Paralympics 2016.
