Dear Samakee Community,
As you know from my letter this morning, due to the high levels of air pollution experienced yesterday and today, we have decided to postpone Movie Night. The health and safety of our students and community are our top priorities. This postponement is the most responsible action to ensure everyone’s well-being, and the new date for Movie Night will be February 21st.
We understand this may cause some inconvenience and sincerely apologise for any disappointment. We are looking forward to celebrating Movie Night with you all on the new date.
Air Quality and Student Well-being at Samakee
Given the recent increase in air pollution levels across the country, we want to assure you that the health and safety of our students and staff are our top priorities at Samakee.
Air Quality Monitoring & Precautions:
- We utilise an Air Visual monitoring device to continuously assess outdoor air quality. We also cross reference with other local Air Visual monitoring devices. These devices provide real-time data that inform our decisions regarding outdoor activities and club/ECA restrictions.
- Live air quality readings are displayed on the School Website under “Air Quality and Heat Index” for your reference and a new link has also been added to SAS LINE Communication Platform.
- All learning spaces are equipped with air purifiers to enhance indoor air quality.
- First, Middle and Upper School buildings are equipped with Energy Recovery Ventilators to provide healthy indoor air through air filters that remove harmful substances like dust particles and microbes.
- We have implemented a clear plan to respond to poor air quality conditions. This plan includes:
The Flag Programme: A coloured flag system is displayed at the school entrance to communicate the current air quality level and any necessary adjustments to outdoor activities.
Internal Messaging System: We utilise our internal communication system to promptly inform the school community about any changes to schedules or activities due to air quality.
We understand that air pollution can be concerning, and we are committed to providing a safe and healthy learning environment for all.
