Dear Samakee Community,

I hope that you are all safe and well.

We were all hoping to start term 1 on August 30th with face-to-face learning, but regrettably, this currently looks unlikely. Therefore, we are planning to open on that day with what we hope will be a short period of online learning. We will share more details about the start of school with you closer to the opening date and these will help children prepare the equipment they need for their new year-groups.

As you may have heard, the Department of Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Education are exploring an initiative called the “Sandbox Safety Zone in Schools” and boarding schools will be the first to trial this approach. If this goes well, we have been told that international schools will be next on the list of schools to enter the scheme. We will let you know more about these plans when we have further information.

FEE STRUCTURE 2021-2022
We recognise the challenging situation that everyone is currently facing in Thailand and I am writing to inform you of a change to our current fee structure. Every year, Sor Chor headquarters approve the SAS Fee Structure before we share it with parents and in May, our 2021/22 fee structure received official approval. However, following discussions with Sor Chor headquarters last week, we will maintain the 2020/21 SAS fee structure for next year.

As always, we appreciate your promptness and unwavering support in paying your fees on time and we
will hold the overpaid portion of the school fee as a credit for term 2.

GOVERNMENT SUBSIDISED MONEY FOR ALL STUDENTS
The Cabinet has approved a THB 2,000 subsidy for all students. The funds are intended to help parents throughout Thailand during Covid-19. All children over the age of three years receive this allowance – including international school students, and schools have been asked to distribute this allowance to families as soon as it becomes available. As part of the process, your child has been assigned a G-Code which will be shared with you shortly. With the provided link, you can check the status of the fund.

When we receive this money we will pay it into your account or if you prefer, keep it as credit or donate to charity. We are all very much aware that Thai families less fortunate than ours struggle to provide for their children at this difficult time. Therefore, you may wish to donate your THB 2,000 subsidy to the following charity, supporting underprivileged children with “Paplen Bag Project Play at home against COVID-19” -https://www.thaichildrights.org/story/sponsor/

Could you complete the following Google Form with your preference? Here is the link – GOVERNMENT SUBSIDISED MONEY FORM Thank you.

DISCOUNTS FOR ONLINE LEARNING
During these online learning periods, we are able to make some operational savings from things like school lunches and electricity, so we will be giving a discount of 250 THB for every day online. This will be calculated at the end of the online learning period and credited to your account.

Thank you for your continuing support as we do our utmost to provide the best education for the children in these challenging times.

Kind regards,

Monica L Sudhirak
Head of School
