Whole School Photographs

On Friday, 31st May at 9:00 AM, we will have the Whole School Photo session, as per our tradition every year. To ensure uniformity in the school photos, the children need to wear their school uniforms on this day.

Please also remember that your child can keep their PE kit, Farm kit, and House T-shirt in their bag. This will allow them to change into these kits as necessary during the day without disrupting the school photo schedule.

Science Fair

The student science fair is an annual traditional at Samakee, as a summative project for our students to show off their science skills. There’s no better way to learn science, than to ask questions and follow the scientific method to answer them. Our students all identified their own questions, devised experiments to collect data, and used the data they collected as evidence for their conclusions. As the students were allowed complete freedom in their questions, a great variety of topics were investigated!

Teaching and Learning Highlights!

Reception – Egg Drop

Our Reception class cracked the code on the sound “e” this week with the story “Egg Drop”! Inspired by the tale, the children became egg-cellent engineers, designing and building containers to protect real eggs from a daring drop! This Egg Drop Challenge wasn’t just about a safe landing; it was a launchpad for creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills. The children planned, re-planned, and strategized to ensure their eggs landed “yolktastically” safe! From triumphs to “oops” moments, this activity was a valuable learning experience for all.

Middle School – Cooking & Maths!

We baked cookies! The children carefully measured out the ingredients using 1 cup, half cup, 1 tbs, half tbs, 1 teaspoon measurements. It was a team effort and they used excellent collaboration skills to bake their cookies. Whilst they were cooking the children coloured cookies in different fractions, using their prior knowledge. Well done everyone!

Year 4 – Science Topic

This week we have continued with our Science topic of Living Things and Habitats. Children investigated the local environment to find out what type of plants and animals live on our farm.

Year 7 – Oil Pastels

Year 7 have been rocking the world of illusion! They’ve been using oil pastels to transform simple 2D shapes like circles and lines into fantastic 3D illusions – spheres and tubes! By carefully adding shading (or “value” as artists call it), they’ve brought depth and realism to their work. But the creativity doesn’t stop there! They’ve also designed some amazing patterns that take their artwork to the next level. The final pieces are truly impressive – a testament to their hard work and artistic talent!

Upper School – Thai Written Works

Students in year 8 and year 9 have had the opportunity to select topics of their interest combining both historical events and environmental issues. Besides this, they have also written about friendship and self-identity through the creation and presentation of written works to their peers.

Awards and Achievements

Samakee Growth Mindset

He loves origami and has practised making different items not just once but hundreds of times. Sometimes it can take him a whole morning to make a creation. He always shares his creations with his friends and inspires them to keep trying and not give up when it gets tricky.

Artist of the Week

Artist of the week goes to a year 7 student who has worked hard and remained focused on his oil pastel skills this week. His creativity producing a 3D shape pattern speaks for itself.
