Dear Samakee Community,
This week has been filled with exciting events, and next week is set to be just as thrilling as we rapidly head towards the end of the academic year. And it does not end there, as Summer School 2024 is just around the corner!
Summer School 2024
All aboard, adventurers! This summer, we will join an exciting Intrepid Explorers programme! Imagine a fun-filled two-week journey where we “sail” to amazing places like the Amazon rainforest, exciting Japan, cool Antarctica, beautiful France, and sunny Australia. At each stop, we’ll have special activities to learn about these cultures: imagine creating rainforest art, practising simple French greetings, or even using fun maths to budget for tickets or budgeting for sushi in Japan or how far we’ve travelled on our amazing adventure so far!
The learning keeps going too – we can use our discoveries to make cool art, play sports and games from around the world and even try delicious international food! Maybe we’ll even learn some new songs and dances to celebrate the music of each place we visit! It’ll be a summer full of exploration, laughter, and amazing memories!
End of Year Events

Thai Trip to Bang Krachao – Years 3-4
Years 3-4 will visit Baan Toop Hom and Bangkachao Farm in Bang Kachao, Samut Prakan Province. During this trip, children will learn about Thai handicrafts and cooking and experience the traditional countryside way of life in Thailand. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn from local people and gain valuable cultural experiences. Activities include dyeing T-shirts, making incense sticks, cooking the dessert “ขนมตาล Toddy palm cake,” and preparing salted eggs.
Thursday, 13th June – Morning
Samakee Key Value Award
Our Annual Key Value Award Assembly will take place on Thursday, June 13th, in the Samakee Hall. All children in our school from Year 1 to Year 9 are eligible for this award. The awards will be allocated to Middle School (Y1-4) and Upper School (Year 5/6 – 9). The Assembly will start at approximately 8:35 in the Samakee Hall and last about 30 minutes. The parents of children receiving an award will be invited to attend to see their child receive their award.
Thursday, 13th June – Afternoon
Year 9 leavers assembly
We are fast approaching the time when we have to say goodbye to our Year 9 cohort. We would like to invite Year 9 parents as honoured guests to our annual leavers assembly next Thursday.
End of Year Reports
Next week is the last week of term, and school reports will be published on the Parent Portal for your child at the end of the week.
However, a ‘Report Hold’ will occur if tuition fees are late, library books are outstanding, or other pending payments, such as costumes for performances or trip costs.
To ensure your child’s report is not held, please settle any overdue payments to the finance office as soon as possible and not later than Friday 14th, the last day of the school year. Your prompt action in this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Year 3 – 4 Production : The Arabian Nights
Our talented Year 3 and 4 students transported us to the enchanting world of Arabian Nights with their incredible production! The evening was filled with mesmerising performances, colourful costumes, and captivating storytelling that left the audience spellbound. Our young stars truly shone on stage, bringing the magic of these timeless tales to life.
A huge thank you to all the students, teachers, and parents who put in so much effort to make this production a resounding success. We couldn’t be prouder of our amazing performers! Here’s to many more magical moments at Samakee!
2nd Swim Gala
Congratulations to all swimmers who took part in the second Swim Gala this year. It was a great atmosphere created by the 3 houses and parents combined. The objective of the gala was to highlight progress made since the start of the year. Swimmers certainly achieved this by swimming new strokes and further distance. It was also great to see improved starts off the diving blocks. Thank you parents for competing in the last event and relay and well done. You have set the precedent for future years.
We will announce the top 3 boys and girls for Middle School and Upper School in assembly next week and finish the top 3 ribbons for each event.
Teaching and Learning Highlights!
EYFS – Art Showcase
The children had a fantastic time being part of the Samakee Art Exhibition! They were thrilled to see their own artwork displayed alongside clips of themselves and their friends working on different projects. They were also deeply inspired by the work of older students. The atmosphere was filled with smiles and lively discussions. Well done to everyone!
Year 4 – Ramakien Puppet Show
Students in Year 4 studied the topic of ‘The Ramakien Epic.’ They were divided into groups to perform a puppet show based on different episodes of the Ramakien. The students wrote the scripts themselves and created shadow puppets for the show. They then performed these shows for the middle school students during an assembly. Through this activity, the students learned how to create and perform shadow puppet shows, a traditional performing art from the southern region. Additionally, they developed their language skills in a new and creative way.
Year 8 – Ayutthaya Trip
Year 8 visited Ayutthaya, exploring Wat Mahatat with its famous Buddha head embedded into tree trunk. They toured the Chao Phraya National Museum, which houses Ayutthaya’s treasures and art. They also learned about the history of Portuguese and Japanese villages and admired the European Gothic architecture of Wat Niwet Thammaprawat Ratchaworawihan. The trip concluded with enjoying traditional Thai sweets, Roti Saimai.
