Dear Samakee Community,

We are excited to announce that our school will host our annual International Day event on Friday, 10th May, celebrating our students’ diverse cultures and backgrounds. To ensure the success of this important occasion, we need your help, and we are inviting all parents and carers to a PTG meeting in the Fitness Room on Thursday, 4th April, at 8 a.m.

The International Day event is an excellent opportunity for our students to showcase their ancestry, learn about different cultures, and foster a sense of unity within our school community. Your participation and input make this event memorable and meaningful for everyone involved.

During the meeting, we will discuss various aspects of the event, including the ‘stand/country areas’, possible cultural performances, food stalls, decorations, and logistical arrangements. Your ideas, suggestions, and contributions will be greatly appreciated as we work together to create a vibrant and inclusive International Day celebration.

If you can’t attend but would like to contribute in any way, please let us know, and we will make sure your ideas are considered. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. We look forward to collaborating with you to make International Day 2024 a memorable and enriching experience for everyone.

Wishing you a relaxing weekend.

Book Donation

We want to express our sincere gratitude to the Wright Family for their generous donation of books to our school library. Your donation will undoubtedly contribute to our students’ enjoyment of reading. Thank you for your kind and generous gesture.

Teaching and Learning Highlights!

Pi Day

Pi day was a huge success at Samakee. Students learned more deeply about the special number which is all around us. They found Pi in Donuts, they found Pi by conducting an experiment where they threw toothpicks and calculated an estimate of Pi themselves!

Outdoor Learning

Led by their own interests, the children’s curious minds and busy hands get to work choosing whatever experience they are drawn to that day! That’s what makes learning on the Samakee farm such a special and unique experience for our children in EYFS.

Year 3 – Ancient Roman Empire

Year 3 have started on a new topic about the Ancient Roman Empire. We just had our first session in the Art room where we designed our own shields.

Upper School – Thai History

US students have created an interesting blog showcasing the history and various places in Sukhothai, Ayutthaya, and Rattanakosin period, including palaces, temples, traditional markets, museums, and more. They have demonstrated their creativity and technological skills by incorporating research, decoration, and different tools to make their blogs informative and engaging.

Year 8 – Maths Battle

Students were challenged to share money in different ratios to create the most powerful army of ten soldiers possible. This was an exciting way to push students to apply their recent learning about ratio and proportion. Not only did they have to use complex calculation strategies, they also had to use their logical thinking skills and even analyse the psychology of their opponents to work out a winning strategy.

The maths battle ground was intense and students had fun working out whether their ratio soldiers were more powerful than their classmates’. Well done to our winning student, whose army beat all of his opponents!
