Dear Samakee Community,

Last week, we had our first Swim meet since 2019! The ISB Swimfest was a great event, with 15 of our Samakee Stingers swimming in 41 events over the two-day competition. Lots of fun was had by all, and some promising swimming; some students swimming in competition for the first time and others swimming new events. All students gained 1 or more PB times over the weekend!

Congratulations to Napin, Sophia, Shiko, Voice, Tos, Ankh, Ankh, Chucky, Munich, Marley, Pasu, Nana, Ohm and Magic. A particular mention to Kai, who placed second overall in 25m Backstroke and Asia, who placed in the top 5 in all 4 of her events, winning a third-place medal overall in 100m Breaststroke.

SPANISH DAY
Y1-Y9 will be completely off the timetable. On Monday, 28th November, it is Spanish Day. This year, we are celebrating the country of Mexico, particularly Frida Kahlo. The students can come to school dressed in red/green/white (the Mexican flag colours) and put flowers in their hair like Frida and paint on a monobrow if they wish. Feel free to also join in with the theme.

SPORTS DAY 2022
Next week, Thursday, 24 November all students from Year 3-9 will compete in an Inter-House competition centred around Track & Field activities. The event finishes with a combined relay with teachers and parents joining in too and we look forward to seeing some of you at the track supporting your children. Don’t forget to wear your House T-Shirt!

 PTG
Our next Coffee Morning will be on Tuesday, 29th November, at 8:30 am in the Music Room, and here is the link to our Samakee PTG LINE Group.

At the PTG Coffee Morning, Samakee staff will resume leading One-Stop Parent Workshops to support parents with different aspects of school. The focus at this workshop will be:

  • What is Storytime Phonics and how is it taught? (EYFS)
  • Drawing Club – Drawing Club is a fantastic place to start a child’s experience of school ‘Literacy’. Come and find out more! (Reception – Year 2)
  • Mathematics at Samakee – (Middle and Upper School)

I hope you have a relaxing weekend.

Kind regards,

Monica L Sudhirak
Head of School
