Dear Samakee Community,

On Monday, we welcome our Educational Advisor, Pauline and three inspectors to Samakee for a three day EDT Accreditation Visit. The inspectors will speak with staff, students and parents, observe teaching and learning, and look at books and school documents to ensure we have maintained the high standards expected by the EDT and BSO accreditation body.

As scheduled, this week I have met with the Phase Leaders, Inclusion Leader and teachers to look at each child’s learning outcomes over the last half term and to talk about children’s well-being. Regular Pupil Progress Meetings enable us to identify progress and targets for the next stage in children’s learning journey and we prioritise meeting the needs of our students. The information discussed during Pupil Progress sessions along with teacher observations will be collated into end of year reports which will be shared with you in the last week of term.

PARENT CONSULTATIONS

We are looking forward to discussing your child’s progress during Parent Consultations the Week Beginning  29th May 2O23. For parent convenience, appointments are scheduled face-to-face on Tuesday 30th May and virtually on Thursday 1st June; teaching and learning will continue at school as usual. An appointment letter will be shared with you next week and we do hope to speak with you all before the end of the school year. Thank you.

LIBRARY BOOKS

Samakee library is always a busy place to be. The children show a strong passion for reading and take pleasure in looking through and selecting books each week. We are delighted that our children are such avid readers.

Please note that the last day for book borrowing this term is Friday 2nd June. This will allow us time to check our stock and make sure all books are returned at the end of the academic year.

Please help us by checking your bookshelves and helping your child to make sure that they return all their library books by Friday 9th June. Thank you.

I hope that you and your family have a relaxing weekend. Kind regards,

Monica L Sudhirak
Head of School
