Dear Samakee Community,

We hope that Home Learning has started well for everyone, and we are certainly impressed by the excellent response from our students who are working hard and doing their best. We are in this challenging situation together, so please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.  Distance learning presents us all with formidable challenges, particularly our teachers who have quickly turned into technology specialists! Thank you for your continued support, and do let us know how your child is doing at home so that we can best help you meet your child’s needs.

As I have stated in my previous letters, we continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated with information throughout this period. Yesterday, I was informed that a second student in Year 2 has tested positive for Covid-19 following a follow-up Covid test. He is asymptomatic and remains at home on the advice of his doctors. We send our very best wishes to the family and thank them for keeping us informed.

LEAVERS SURVEY

Thank you to those families who have already let the school and teachers know their plans for the next academic year. We understand that it may be difficult for some families to know what the future holds. Nevertheless, whatever your plans may be or however uncertain they are at this time, we ask that you please take the time to complete this survey based on your most likely expectations. Thank you.

EXPLORING MOVEMENT

Movement explorations are delightful experiences that will help children discover their movement potential. Children can enjoy these activities silently or with accompanying music, building an appreciation for moving with music as well as being moved by music. Year 1 have been exploring different props to develop some dance moves and ideas to create choreography for their upcoming production.

READING

Reading is the key to lifelong learning. That is why at Samakee we instil a love of reading from an early age. Here is our Kindergarten Class enjoying a weekly visit to our library to choose books, ready to share them with friends and adults!

I hope that you and your family are finding the time to enjoy some good books at home. And don’t forget, if you are looking for something new, the Samakee Drive Through Library is open, and you can search the online catalogue and reserve books online. If you reserve books before noon on Tuesday, your choice will be with the guards on Wednesday, and you can collect any books reserved after Noon on Tuesday on Friday. Please return the books to our return box in front of the school. For safety, we will put all borrowed books into quarantine.

If you have any difficulties borrowing books or need a new password, please contact Khun Nulek.  nulek.p@standrews-samakee.com

Now more than ever, it is essential to remind you all to continue monitoring your health and that of your family, following the guidelines for mask-wearing, hand washing, physical distancing, and avoiding crowded places. Stay safe!

Kind regards,

Monica L Sudhirak

Head of School
