Dear Samakee Community,

On Wednesday, the school was closed, and staff came together for an INSET Day. An inset day, originally an acronym for IN-SErvice Training day, is one of five days in our school calendar during term time when the children do not attend school. On Wednesday, we used the INSET day to reorganise the environment in EYFS, finish gathering together documents for our advisor visit next week and to plan for next year.

We have come to the end of Science Week, and what a fabulous week it has been! Thank you to Ms Fran and Mr Martyn, our Science Subject Team, for organising the week and all the teachers and support staff for participating and planning science experiments. Every class in the school has been involved in hands-on science activities, from building circuits in year 3/4 to blowing bubbles and testing eggs to see how strong they are in EYFS, exploring chemical reactions in KS1, and looking at the water cycle in Spanish in Years 5 and 6.

There has also been some great science going on in Upper School who gathered in the hall for the  Samakee Science Fair 2022! The children enthusiastically talked about their projects as a group of teachers walked about judging the variety of experiments. The scientific questions US students had come up with were diverse: Does a messier desk affect your concentration?; Does smiling allow people to withstand icy water for a longer mean time?; Does ice melting have other factors other than the temperature?

Well done, everyone, for a fantastic week!

LEAVERS SURVEY
Thank you to those families who have already let the school and teachers know their plans for the next academic year. We understand that it may be difficult for some families to know what the future holds. Nevertheless, whatever your plans may be or however uncertain they are at this time, we ask that you please take the time to complete this questionnaire based on your most likely expectations. Thank you.
