6th October 2023

Dear Samakee Community,

On Wednesday, we gave visitors and prospective parents a better understanding of our school’s approach to education with a first-hand glimpse of what our school has to offer. The event was well attended and provided an excellent opportunity for guests to tour our facilities and observe our teaching methodologies in action. Our guests interacted with teachers, staff and children who were there to answer questions and address any queries or concerns. Huge thanks to the children who welcomed so many visitors into their classrooms and to our student ambassadors who did an excellent job of escorting visitors around the school!

Teaching and Learning Highlights!

EY PAINTING

We believe that art should be hands-on and sometimes messy! Painting on various surfaces lets our children explore textures, experiment with techniques, and let their creativity run wild. Messy hands, happy hearts!

FIRST LEGO LEAGUE

As an extracurricular activity, Samakee students have been working on a project for FIRST Lego League. The students are collaborating on the theme of ‘Masterpiece’, how they show off their hobbies to others. Over this activity, the students will design, create and code using Lego Robotics resources to create an exhibition.

YEAR 3 THAI SOCIAL

Year 3 students have been learning about the Geography of Thailand and Way of Life. They worked together to complete Thailand’s geography map puzzles and guessed the meaning of each colour on the map. They also used this knowledge to connect with the food, places, and costumes that they needed to place on the map. The students had a lot of fun and improved their inquiry skills through this activity

YEAR 4 RECORDERS

The ‘Intery Mintery’ song was performed by Year 4 at last year’s Halloween assembly. Today, the children did a wonderful job identifying and playing the song by ear. Well done, everyone! Your efforts were truly impressive!

YEAR 7 MATHS IS MAGIC

Year 7 engaged in an exciting investigation into how one mathematics magic trick works. They used their innovative and inquisitive mindsets to see whether the trick was successful when using increasingly challenging numbers – inspiring each other to test it with decimals, negative numbers and values in the millions. The students even surprised Ms Sophie, their teacher, by suggesting trying the trick with a value which can’t be defined – infinity! Students worked together and were excited to see the power of algebra!

UPPER SCHOOL AMAZING ADVENTURE BANGKOK

Recently, the students of Upper School went beyond the classroom walls and participated in a fantastic adventure in downtown Bangkok. They collaborated in teams to complete 6 different challenges. Firstly, they had to go to the market and buy ingredients whilst completing some fun bonus challenges such as kissing a live fish. Then, with said ingredients they showed off their culinary skills to make their own somtam . They crossed the river to complete a further 4 challenges in the Botanical Park which consisted of eating a Pink egg, trying their hand at Muay Thai, mastering the art of Thai Massage and showcasing their Thai dancing skills. It was a great team-building event with the kids being intrepid and very inspired. Well done Red Team for getting the most points!

Upcoming Important Events

Do you have a toddler under two years who would like to come and play at school? If your answer is yes, our Little Learner programme is just right for you. Sessions will resume on Tuesday the 10th of October at 8:30 am and you and your toddler are invited to attend.

Samakee’s Little Learner Group offers several valuable benefits for parents and toddlers that can ease the transition into Nursery. These benefits include:

Language development and the opportunity to develop communication skills through interactive play, singing, age-appropriate games and engagement with others. Interacting with others builds confidence and self-esteem and helps young children to manage their feelings better.

Fine and gross motor skills activities like painting, construction and outdoor play promote the development of coordination and balance as well as creativity and problem-solving skills. We hope to see you there!

SAS LINE COMMUNICATION PLATFORM

LINE is a widely used communication platform in Thailand, and it’s a platform that Samakee has been utilizing for quite some time. We encourage all our families to connect with our official SAS LINE account to ensure we can easily disseminate important school-wide updates to our entire school community.

Wishing you all an enjoyable and rejuvenating weekend!
